Before you start designing your site, thinking up an awesome domain name, looking into scanners or telling all your friends that you're gonna have a webcomic, you should probably make sure you're actually funny in some way. Draw up a couple comics for real, no "yea, it will be kinda like this" stuff. Do it like you want to be proud of it. Take that and show it to some friends and get their honest opinions. Don't be offended if they don't find your comics hilarious; they are just trying to help you out. Show it to your siblings, parents, friends parents, anyone that can appreciate humor.
Rules for these first comics:
- NO inside jokes. Your friends will always find these to be funny, but the internet will not.
- Avoid MSpaint, unless you can do it well. If you have to, use a brush/pencil thicker than 1 pixel. Please.
- Don't write a joke derived from another source. Come up with something totally unique.
If it turns out that you're not very funny in webcomic form, that's ok! Maybe with a little more practice, you can get a feel for the funnies. All up to you.
If you do have the funnies, congratulations! You have passed the first test for starting a webcomic.
